A few days ago, I posted a little item about relief efforts for the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami. By giving a dollar for every link to his post and to a list of other sites, Anders Jacobsen has promised to raise up to US$ 500 (PHP 28,115.00) in aid.
Now, the stakes are even higher. His employer has a program wherein they match their employees' donations while another blogger, Eliot Landrum, has likewise promised to match Ander's final donation. On top of this, some UK tax law means that the British Red Cross gets a little bit more bang for the buck from Ander's donation - an extra 28% more bang, in fact.
What does all this mean? In simple terms, each posting now raises $3.28 (PHP 184.43)instead of the original single dollar. Consequently, this raises the cap from some US$ 500 to US$ 1640 (PHP 92,217.20). A small amount compared the extent of the damage, I'm sure, but still a tidy amount, don't you think?
On a final note, the last time I checked, 130 bloggers had already posted these dollar (now $3.28) links, raising US$ 426.40 (PHP 23,976.47) in aid. Don't you want to contribute?
